Celebrating the life of

Janet H. Thomson

May 31, 1950 - May 12, 2016

Janet H. Thomson

Savannah- Our beloved Janet Hamilton Thomson, gained her angel wings on May 12, 2016 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah surrounded by the love of her husband, children and grandchildren. She was born on May 31, 1950 in Savannah, Ga where she lived the majority of her life. She lived in Louisiana a short time as a child and lived in Jacksonville Fl for a period of time while working for AT&T.

Janet was a 1968 graduate of Savannah Highschool. She worked 31 years for AT&T before retiring and then worked for the Chatham County Tag Office for 11 years before retiring due to illness.

Janet was a daughter, a sister, a wife, an amazing mother and nonnie, a beautiful best friend. The joy and love that she expressed to everyone she met was both undeniable and unmatched. Her beautiful soul will continue on in all of us that have been blessed to be a part of her.

She is survived by her husband, Andy Thomson Jr; her daughter and granddaughter, Rachel and Taylor Watson; her son and daughter in law, Jason and Sarah Thomson; her daughter and son in law, Allison and Jaime Martorell and her grand babies, Ava, Lucas and Olivia Martorell; her siblings, Ginger and Bob Pendarvis, Chester and Evelyn Hamilton, Dennis and Molly Hamilton; several cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Janet fought with everything she had! Her beautiful smile was on her face for every single step of this journey, all the way to the end. Her voice, her thoughts, her kindness, her joy and her strength will live on within all of us.

She closed her eyes and went to sleep and quietly left us all. She will forevermore be a part of us.

GUEST BOOK

Our thoughts and prayers are with our family today as they remember my cousin Janet. Hugs from Montana, the Saracos

- Amanda and Michael Saraco and kids, Helena , MT

One of the kindest, most understanding people I've ever had the joy of knowing. She had a kind word for everyone, and would always be there to listen and support her loved ones. As her first grandchild, I had the privilege of knowing her for my entire life so far, and I can't thank her enough for the love and joy she brought to not only my life, but that of our whole family.

- Taylor Watson, Savannah, GA

Janet has always been there for all of us, for Our Big Family. When Scott and I first started dating in 1986, I fell in love with him and his family! She always made me feel special and loved. I was always excited to see her, my love of food may make you wonder if that was the reason. She was the best cook! Many of my favorite casserole and dessert recipes I got from her (broccoli rice, jambalaya rice, her famous rice casserole, chocolate sheath cake, and chewies). We spent many birthdays, weddings, Easters, Christmases, St. Patrick's Days, births, and funerals (sad to say) together. She was the sweetest, most caring, beautiful person. She loved her husband and adored her children, their spouses, and her beautiful grandchildren. She loved hearing about her nephews, nieces, cousins, and ALL their children. She loved shopping, Barbara Jean's, late night brownies, and Disney World. She and her sister (my wonderful mother-in-law) kept up with everyone in Our Big Family and talked to each other almost every night on the phone. Looking back, she never said anything bad about anyone, always focusing on the good. I still picture her smiling and laughing with her eyes sparkling. Our family is so heartbroken over the loss of someone we loved so much. She now has the best view to keep up with Our Big Family. Just wish there were cell phones in Heaven.

Thinking of our family today, and missing one member, Janet. Sending all my love and prayers to all the family and hoping we all choose to remember her and celebrate her life. I remember visiting Ginger and Bob one weekend, in St Simons, and Janet and others were there also., had to be in the mid 80's. I ended up riding with Janet in her VW bug, "yellow or orange, I think," to meet up with everyone for dinner. I had never rode with her before and after that ride swore I never would again. She left their house driving ok, then we got out on the road, where there wasn't much traffic, and it was on... She took turns on what felt like two wheels, and then really let loose on the straightway., felt like we were in the Daytona 500, trying to capture the lead. Well we made it to our destination and in a very timely manner, but I tell you, Janet was some kinda driver in her little VW bug. Will always remember my cousin, my friend and my sister in Christ, Janet. Love and Prayers of peace and comfort Debbie Van Sickle

What a beautiful person! Everything written reminds me of Janet's sister, Ginger. That is probably why they were so close and chatted on the phone all the time! I met Janet over the years several times. She was always so friendly and nice to me as if we were close friends or sisters. I knew she was a special person just from listening to Ginger speak of how Janet loved her children and adored her grandchildren. Thoughts and prayers are with all that knew her.

Andy, Rachel, Jason and Allison, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know what a difficult time it is or you right now, but she left in peace, and got her cure. We can't ask for more than that. Love to each of you.

Allison, As I have gotten to know your mother over the last few years, I have come to really admire her so much. She had the spirit of a champion and such a strong love for her family. She was so involved with your children and had such a great relationship with them. You are such a lucky lady to have someone to have loved you so passionately your whole life. She will be missed, but please remember all your friends are here to help you and support you. We love you.
